LEED Facilitation for Kirkpatrick Park Apartments

“Envision Cayce,” a planning process focused on creating a master plan for revitalizing Nashville’s largest affordable housing property, Cayce Homes, began in March 2013. The plan led by the Nashville Metropolitan Development and Housing Authority called for one-for-one replacement of the 716 public housing units at Cayce Homes. Kirkpatrick Park’s 94 apartments were the first phase of the Cayce Homes redevelopment.

Overview

Wilmot was selected to lead a multi-functional design and construction project team through a LEED for Homes design charrette to identify community goals for Kirkland Park and gather insight on green building opportunities for the development with LEED. Wilmot ensured that the design met LEED-for-Homes requirements by inspecting and testing for design and additional measures to assess building resiliency. The project included a prescriptive approach that included educational workshops, quality assurance through pressure testing, and a support schedule for the project team. With Wilmot as a team partner on the project, the Kirkland Park arm of Envision Cayce resulted in units that were more functional, productive and healthy for residents.
