Fort Campbell Army Base

The Fort Campbell Army Base covers nearly 106,000 acres in Kentucky and Tennessee and supports a population of over 135,000 soldiers and family members. The resource needs of this massive operation are tremendous and so too is the opportunity to control waste handling. Wilmot is currently working on a groundbreaking project that has already triggered widespread changes on the Base and generated economic benefits that will result in taxpayer savings.

The first stage of our work involved a C&D debris management study of 300 Korean War era barracks. Our team identified materials, estimated quantities, and wrote new contract specifications for bidders. Wilmot developed a Tool Kit for contractors, waste handling recommendations for the Base, a full cost accounting model and a technical review of the Installation’s Technical Design Guide. Currently, Wilmot is training building contractors to use the new specifications and to reduce waste on the jobsite by fifty percent.  The presentation will be transferred to a web-based certification program for FY 2008.
